I am excited to continue to build upon the great work the Métis Nation of Alberta continues to do in providing educational oppurtunities and funding, with the Rupertsland Institute. All to often todays classrooms continue to fail to meet the needs of Indigenous students. We need to build on the successes of those schools leading the way, with the return of traditional teachings that respect Indigenous history, ceremony and culture. Exposing our youth to Elders and Knowledge Keepers has never been more important. We need to build partnership between governments, industry and school divisions, to ensure we maximize the opportunities for learning these traditional skills and values.
