Mental Health & Addictions

The overwhelming costs of colonization have never been more evident and damaging than they are right now. The failures of a judgmental and top-down approach to mental health & addictions has resulted in the worst epidemics and death rates our nation has seen. We can no longer afford to ignore the importance of traditional teachings, medicines and ceremonies. Along with the wisdom and caring of our elders to provide, a bottom-up system that begins at the needs of stakeholders. Too much time has already been wasted, we need to intercede meaningfully to stem the dramatic and unacceptable loss of life that is brutalizing Métis people on a daily basis. No one can ignore the overwhelming tole these failures have taken on the cores of our downtown/urban center's. We are long past the time to act, we are all tired of the excuses. Now is the time for meaningful change.
